Can I use my own computer? Or, Can I use my own office computer to manage the ci-80?
Experience has shown that running FUELCOMMANDER on computers of “unknown composition” actually costs more due to increased costs of commissioning, missed sales due to downtime, extra servicing time, and general unreliability. The computer, operating system, and installed software that come with your ci-80 system have all been rigorously tested together to ensure proper operation and the highest possible reliability. Furthermore, most computers available today simply lack the requisite number of serial ports and redundant hard-disk arrays. The use of non-compliant computers in the ci-80 system will affect the terms of your warranty and service agreements.

The ci-80 includes card reader, keypad, display and a thermal printer. There is also a Site Computer and Communications Box, plus modem(s) specific to your site.
Why is the recommended ci-80 computer so expensive?
The Site Computer has extra features such as “Raid” hard drives, extra communication ports, UPS and external modem as well as all required serial and network cables that make it more expensive than the “Off the shelf” computers that you buy at local electronic stores.

What wiring connections are required to make the credit card inquiry?
Clearing credit card transactions can happen either via a regular telephone line or a high speed internet connection. No extra wiring is required if either one is in place at the site computer location.

Can I have more than one ci-80 Terminal at a site connected to a single Site Computer?
Yes. Up to 32 ci-80 terminals can be wired to the Communications Box, which is then connected to a single Site Computer. The RS-485 data lines from the Communications box can be run in parallel to each ci-80 Terminal, or they can be daisy-chained from one ci-80 Terminal to the next. Each ci-80 Terminal is then configured with a unique address which is also kept on the Site Computer so the units can talk to each other.
What is a Training Session?
A training session consists of a series of prompts and questions presented to the user the first time they use the ci-80 Terminal. After successfully completing the training, the user will be assigned a Training ID number. The next time that the user operates the ci-80 terminal, they will be prompted for their Training ID, which allows them to take fuel without having to go through the training session again.
Why is a training session required?
Training is required for safety reasons as well as compliance with unattended fuelling regulations.
How is it triggered?
Whether the ci-80 prompts users for their training ID or not is determined by a setting in the configuration files. If a particular system is configured to prompt for a user’s training ID, then it will do so when the user presents their card to begin a transaction. If they do not enter a valid training ID, the system will force them to go through the training session, after which they will be assigned a new training ID.
What is the list and sequence of instructions in a training session?
There is no fixed list. It is generated by customer requests and site specific information such as location of emergency equipment, emergency phone number, etc. There can be up to 15 messages.
How is successful completion acknowledged?
The successful completion is acknowledged by generation of a Training ID that will be presented to the customer at the end of process and will always be printed in their receipts.
Is the training session registered so that training is bypassed on subsequent card presentation?
Yes. The Training ID is registered in the system. It is not linked to any cards (it is not legal to keep payment card information and use them for any other purpose). The training ID can be used in subsequent transactions but has a expiry period. The expiry period can be set in the configuration files ( i.e. 6 months). After that time the ID will not be valid anymore and the person who has it must go through the training again. The site operator has the option of forcing Fleet card users to go through training, or to exempt them.
Can I use a mixture of different pumps with the ci-80 system?

I am ordering new pumps. Any criteria I should be aware of?
If pumps are being ordered, ensure that you get ones with 3 decimal places of accuracy for low speed dispensers, and at least 2 decimal places for high-speed dispensers. Pumps that only support one decimal place are not suitable for use with the ci-80 system.
How far from the Site computer can the ci-80 Terminal be?
The Site Computer connects via the Communications Box to ci-80 Terminal over a cable of twisted pair wires. The maximum length of this cable is 185m (600 feet).
Does the ci-80 support different languages?
The ci-80 currently supports English and French. The default language is selected in the configuration files. Fleet cards utilize the default setting, while credit cards will trigger the system to use either English or French, depending on the card holder’s default which is encoded into the card.

What is this?

How long does it take to install the vehicle pods?
To install the COBI-II vehicle units takes only a matter of minutes. The simple plug-in system requires a temporary laptop connection. With the use of the supplied COBI Configuration Module and a few quick and simple entries, the total vehicle down-time can be as little as six minutes.
Are there any software licence renewal fees?
No – not for the COBI System. Optional annual maintenance and software upgrades apply only to the original Computrol C6000 pump control units. There is no added fee for COBI additions.
